Should I add Content Creation to my Wedding Budget?

We are sure you are no stranger to the growing trend of content creation at weddings. Since the social media boom and growing platforms like TikTok, brides are seeing a new opportunity to showcase their wedding through the candid and organic ambiance of an iPhone. On top of photography and videography, raw iPhone content offers a guest point of view that everyone can resonate with. Match that with someone who knows how to rock the iPhone camera and you’ve got some social media content to last a lifetime!

With content creation still being a fairly new addition to the wedding industry, we’ve decided to answer 4 of your pressing questions to help you decide whether content creation is for you!

Q1. What exactly is a wedding content creator?

A wedding content creator is someone who captures phone content from start to finish on your wedding day. They are there to document the candid moments throughout the day so that the bride and groom have something to share with their friends and family on social media almost instantaneously. A professional content creator knows how to take full advantage of the phone camera and capture angles and moments that everyone wants to see. Most content creators will deliver the raw footage to you plus a collection of edited videos that are ready to post online!

Q2. Can’t I just ask my guests to take videos on their phones?

We highly discourage allowing guests to capture your wedding on their phones for multiple reasons! For one, you want your guests to be fully present at your wedding. They aren’t able to take in the atmosphere and be in the moment with you if they’re on their phone filming the whole time. It would be incredibly disheartening for you to see your gallery after your wedding and find photos of everyone on their phones during important moments. Instead, you’ll want to see your guests smiling faces and emotions as they experience being a part of such a beautiful day. Another concern is that your friends and family might post a photo or video of you without your permission. This can open a whole new range of issues and create conflict that you don’t need on your special day! Having your celebrant announce that you’re having an unplugged ceremony and that there is a designated person there to capture all the phone content eliminates these issues and helps your guests relax and enjoy the day.

Q3. Should I just get iPhone footage instead of having a professional videographer?

No! While iPhone footage has grown in its quality, it has in no way replaced the timelessness and class of a professional feature film. A videographer and a content creator are both there to capture very different things. A videographer’s purpose is to capture high-quality, cinematic footage that will tell the story of your day through an intimate film. Videographers must consider audio, lighting, posing, atmosphere and so much more to make sure your film will become an heirloom for future generations to enjoy. Content creation is all about capturing the moments as is from the perspective of a guest - it’s not supposed to be perfect or look overly professional.

Q4. What should I consider when hiring a wedding content creator?

With every vendor you hire for your wedding, there are things you need to consider. When it comes to having a photographer, videographer, and then potentially and content creator, you need to take into consideration the space you have to accommodate all those people. For example, if you’re getting ready in a small motel room, you might not have the space for everyone to do their job properly. Fortunately, some photographers and videographers also double as content creators (like us!) and can do both jobs at once. You also need to take into account your budget and what you are expecting to be delivered by your content creator - do you just want all the raw footage? Or do you also want multiple edited and ready-to-go videos to be posted straight away?

Wedding content creation is still a very new concept and it’s something worth investing in if you are present on social media and have the budget for it. Keep in mind that content creation cannot replace the value of having a photographer and videographer capture your wedding. However, it is an addition that we are sure you won’t regret! We are so excited to finally be offering content creation as an add-on to any of our packages!
